Slowdive finally playing North America, including Montreal on October 27

The recently-reunited UK shoegaze legends Slowdive are set to play Le National on October 27. The band reunited earlier this year for a couple of European festival appearances, and are now beginning to add dates on this side of the ocean.

Slowdive were one of the spearheads of the early 90’s shoegaze scene, alongside acts like My Bloody Valentine and Ride. Unfortunately, due to record company snafus and inconsistent touring, the band never reached the popularity of either of those bands, languishing in cult-status for the better part of 20 years. However, with the early 90’s Creation Records-era constantly being cited as an influence on a legion of new bands, and with the successful reunions of My Bloody Valentine and Mazzy Star, there has likely never been a more fortuitous time for Slowdive to reunite.

Tickets for the October 27th show at Le National go on-sale Friday, July 18th. Tickets are available now via Admission. In the meantime, you can check out a classic Souvlaki album cut below, as well as a clip of the band’s recent set from the Primavera Festival.
