Evan Dando is not a man in a rush. The singer-songwriter best known as the frontman for The Lemonheads has been out of the public eye for a while, moving to Martha’s Vineyard, and slowly working on a set of new songs for an eventual release. His first (and only) solo album, Baby I’m Bored, came out all the way back in 2003. Since then, Dando has toured only sporadically, fronting a reunited MC5 for a US tour, and commemorating the Lemonheads’ breakthrough album It’s A Shame About Ray by performing it in full on a few select dates.
Evan is currently on a rare solo trek across Canada, where we reached him by phone to talk about his current tour, the dangers of over-sharing online, his love for modern country, and why you won’t be seeing a full album tour behind the 20th anniversary of Come On Feel The Lemonheads.
Evan plays Montreal’s Petit Campus (57 Prince Arthur Est, Montreal, QC) on May 27, with guest Sara Johnston (Bran Van 3000). Tickets are available here.
