POP Montreal to screen Arcade Fire doc ‘The Reflektor Tapes’ (and ‘Showgirls’)

POP Montreal has announced their Film POP line-up for this year’s festival, including the Quebec premiere of the Arcade Fire doc The Reflektor Tapes, and a 20th anniversary showing of Showgirls at Cinema Lamour, Montreal’s oldest porno theatre.

Directed by Kahlil Joseph, The Reflektor Tapes focuses on the conception, recording and world tour for the band’s 2013’s Reflektor album. Hopefully we’ll see some footage of the band’s controversial surprise shows at Club Salsathèque, where the band debuted songs from the upcoming album to small crowds of pre-approved costumed super-fans.

The rest of the Film POP slate is as eclectic as the festival’s music offerings, featuring a pair of films by Japanese director Sho Miyake (who will also be in attendance), a documentary on an Elvis impersonator, the Showgirls anniversary screening and more.
