The panel for FXX’s The League on Sunday afternoon brought out nearly the full cast of the fantasy-football comedy series, including Paul Sheer (Andre), Mark Duplass (Pete), Stephen Rannazzisi (Kevin), Katie Aselton (Jenny), Jon Lajoie (Taco) and Jason Mantzoukas (Rafi). Nick Kroll (Ruxin) was missing in action, but the husband and wife creators of the show Jackie Marcus Schaffer and Jeff Schaffer were on-hand to provide a behind-the-scenes look into the show.

Unlike most panels at NYCC, the team behind The League wasn’t pushing a specific milestone, or hotly-anticipated premiere. Likewise, the panel had no surprise announcements or other gimmicks, but was simply a chance to get the creators and cast together to speak about their experiences working on the show.

That is not to say that there weren’t any exclusives. The crowd was treated to an advance screening of a great future episode from this season which finally explains the origin of the ‘Taco” nickname, and offers the chance for Jon Lajoie to break out his French (he is a native of Quebec). Oh, and the episode features a lot of bird poop.

The panel itself was typically off-the-rails, with Jason Mantzoukas essentially offering to finger a crying baby in the crowd, and Jon Lajoie describing his numerous encounters with strange men who want to do drugs with him.

The show’s creators did confirm that The League will be returning for at least one more season, which is excellent news for fans of one of the most consistently funny shows on TV right now. As for the remainder of this season, look for “vinegar strokes” to make a triumphant (?) return, as well as the first appearance of Ruxin’s long-discussed sister.

The League airs every Wednesday @ 10:30PM on FXX.
